Easter

Before I get into pictures and what we did this weekend I will just say that I am so thankful that HE IS RISEN! He conquered death and sin that I might know Him and have eternal life! Hallelujah!

We went to an egg drop at church on Saturday morning and although it was really quick, Riggs seemed to have a great time!  Sunday morning we woke up bright and early and kept nursery at 8 am and then went to 9:30 church.  We came home and the Easter bunny had been to visit!  We played and had nap time and then spent the afternoon dying our Easter eggs and making our Easter dinner to have as a family.  It was definitely  a little different celebrating Easter on a 35 degree, windy day but thankfully that is not what it's all about!
Here are some pics to sum up on day...

Waiting in line to go inside with sweet boy!

I love when he holds my finger

Waiting and clapping to the music:)

Trying to get a picture with Daddy but a little side tracked by his candy.

He obviously was not too happy with me holding him:(

But, the minute I put him down he ran up really close to the camera saying  "CHEEEESEEE!"

And was a little ham the rest of the time.

And, one with daddy.  We didn't have anyone to take a picture of all of us:(

The Easter bunny came too!

I can't get over how big he looks!

Better late than never in coloring and dying our eggs!

TWO

I already did a post on Riggs' 2nd Birthday but I wanted to follow it with his stats from his doctors appointments and a few of the things that we are loving about this stage with him!

  • 29 lbs (72%)
  • 34 inches tall (61%)  The doctor said that looking at the growth chart your weight/height is showing that you haven't grown as tall as you were and that this pattern usually means you would go through a growth spurt soon...not even the next day after that you have started eating like a little piggie!:)
  • You wear 2T shirts and 24 month pants with the elastic pulled as tight as it will go in your pants.. your little waste is so tiny!
  • We just moved up to size 6 diapers.
  • You sleep from about 7:30/8pm to 6/6:30am
  • You nap from about 12:30-3/3:30  Your naps have been a little shorter now that you are in your big boy bed and can get down.
  • You love to sit on the counter and "help" with dinner.
  • I love to watch you when daddy walks in the door as you run to him and say "Daddy-o!"
  • You love Elmo, Mickey, Lion (some random lion cartoon movie).
  • Some of the things we love to hear you say..."I want to pay(play) with mama", Lobie (lovie blanket), cubber up (cover up..you love to have your blanket on you to sleep), "what happened?", "Why do dat daddy?", "I wuv you", "daddy/mama lay down" or "daddy/mama sit right here" as you pat the bed or couch for us to be with you.
  • You have showed alot more interest in coloring and play-doh lately
  • When its time to go to bed at night, you walk to your new room and say "big boy bed, don't get down"  and go to bed so easily.
  • You have started to request songs at night and these are the ones that we love to hear you sing with us...Do Lord, Jesus loves me, itsy bitsy spider, holy, this little light of mine, and twinkle twinkle are your faves.
  • You play really well with other kids and are pretty laid back and submissive when it comes to other kids taking things and are adamant about "share" as you tell them so nicely to do!
  • You pull up my shirt and say Harpin's name and kiss and hug my belly and then say bye bye and cover it back up:)  I love it!
You bring us so much joy!  We can't wait to see you love your little sister and become a great big brother!

Happy Birthday Buddy!

We celebrated Riggs 2nd Birthday on Saturday!  As much as I would have loved to plan another party for him it obviously was not practical with where we are right now!:(  So, we had a Saturday fun day with the 3 of us!

We woke up and had balloons on Riggs chair at the table (the best present from his perspective!).  We had blue chocolate chip pancakes and strawberries for breakfast. After breakfast we opened presents and then went to Monkey Joes for the morning and he LOVED it!

After nap time we went to the mall and played in the play place, which is one of our new favorites with this cold weather and then ate "Donald's," as Riggs calls it, for dinner.  After dinner, we came home and sang Happy Birthday and blew out candles on his own little cookie cake!  We had a really fun day celebrating our sweet boy!

He also slept in his big boy bed for the first time this night...I will put a little post on that soon!

Until then....

It's my Birthday...I'll cry if I want to!

His blue birthday pancakes :)

Following his m&m trail to find his presents

He was pretty excited about his scooter!

He has a blast bouncing and sliding!

The best family pic we could get!  So thankful for our little 2 year old!

Playing at the mall playplace..one of our favorite places to go in this cold weather!

This is how he sat the whole time we were singing to him with a cute little embarassed smile on his face:)

The balloons were probably his favorite part!

I have a TWO year old!

This time 2 years ago I was 38 weeks pregnant and getting out of bed to use the restroom and realized I hadn't just peed my pants a little :) but that I should probably call the doctor and see if I need to go to the hospital!  Of course they said yes, for us to come in.  Two hours later, after showering, picking up the house, eating breakfast, and putting the last few things in our bags (obviously I wasn't having contractions) we made it to the hospital!  It's crazy how quickly time has passed and I am so thankful that God chose this little boy to make me a mama.  Here is a link to Riggs birth story and some pics from his Birthday!<ahref=http://www.theandersonanecdotes.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

We are looking forward to a Birthday day of fun with ourl little family on Saturday!
Riggs goes for his 2 year well check on Thursday so I will post more about my little TWO year old after his appointment!

Blessed Days

I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner (www.kellyskornerblog.com) for SUYL Fridays (a few days late obviously!)  I decided I wanted to document our typical days so that when we add our 2nd in a little over 2 months I can look back and remember these laid back times.

Because my work schedule varies each week our schedule changes alot.  I'm thankful to only work 3 days a week.  Although I work 12 hour shifts I can't imagine not having the other days off to be at home with Riggs.  It's a great glimpse into being a SAHM even though I techincally work full time.

The days that I work (or if I work nights) Andrew takes Riggs and picks him up at an in home daycare which he seems to LOVE!  So, I will document what our other 4 days during the week look like.

6am- Riggs calls "mama" and I try to lay in bed for 5 more minutes hoping he will miraculously decided to   sleep until the sun comes up...not going to happen!

6:05am- Open the door to my sweet smiley boy who immediately says "show" or "milk" and then     "goodmornit daddy" (he cant seem to get the 'N' sound at the end of words...precious!)

6:05-6:30ish-snuggle with milk and cartoons while I check email, fb, ect.  R hears daddy pour his cereal and he "shares" with Andrew and eats half of his breakast.  After this Riggs says "eat" and climbs into his chair for his own breakfast.  We try to change it up and have something different every day.  I usually eat with him while Andrew is finishing up getting ready for work.

7am- see daddy off to work, kisses and hugs all around, fix a cup of coffee for myself if Andrew already made it and sit down to try and have a quiet time while Riggs plays or watches the rest of a show.

7:30am- I usually try to make myself look decent and throw on some gym clothes, then get Riggs dressed. Depending on the day we head out to the gym by 8 or we do chores around the house (laundry, dishwasher, ect.) and then make our way to the gym.

8:15-9:45am- This depends on the day and if I go to a class or not but we head to the gym and Riggs loves to "play" and walks right in everytime eager to play while mama gets her workout on!

10am-  leave the gym...SNACK is NECESSARY! This kid could have just eaten a full course meal but the minute he's buckled in the car he NEEDS a snack!

10-11:30am- Usually we run errands, one day is always the grocery store and the other days just vary. Lately, since it's been so cold and snowy and we all have cabin fever something serious we have gone to the mall and played in the play place.

11:30-12pm- home, lunch for Riggs and prepare for nap time.

12-3:30ish- Riggs naps. I usually sit down and eat lunch and watch something on TV, hopefully get some things done around the house and lately nap myself!

3:30-5:30pm- play, prep dinner and anxiously wait on daddy to get home.

5:30-6pm catch up with daddy, play, and sit down for dinner.  Sometimes Riggs is hungry sooner than I can get our dinner ready but I've made an effort lately to have dinner ready earlier so we can all sit down at the table together.

6:30-7pm- bathtime.  Andrew and I don't have a particular night but we take turns cleaning up dinner and bathing Riggs.

7-7:30pm- Milky for R, snuggle time and a show or reading books and then bedtime.

Some days feel long and lonely lately since we don't really have any friends to meet up with and have lunch or playdates, ect.  But, I was reminded recently by this video http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FdyTm3J&h=YAQHnnH9T to be thankful for the ordinary days!  I want to do my best to treasure these days that sometimes seem simple and mundane!

Just a little playdoh yesterday...I need to take more pics here lately!
