Little Peak

I found a twin bed for Riggs at a thrift store for $5.00!!! Wahoo!  The only problem was that I got it home and realized that it's an antique and is a 3/4 size bed (b/w a twin and a full).  So, Andrew is trying to work his handyman magic (he he!  You will be laughing at that statement too if you know my husband:)  and see if we can size it down to a twin.

So, here is a peak at the bedding that I ordered.  I am going to incorporate some firetruck stuff in his room as my Papa was a firefighter and my parents have his firehat and pins that I am going to use to decorate with.  So, just picture a cute white antique bed, red dresser and some firetruck accents!  I think it will be a whole lot cuter when we don't live in a rental with stark white walls and dark brown door casings...but hey, you work with what you got!

Siesta Scripture Memory 3

Well, I'm behind...go figure!  The 15th came and went and I didn't finish memorizing my verse on time and now I have less time to do my 2nd for this month... I better get on it!  So, after a  little work yesterday here is the verse for the beginning of February.

Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth."
Hosea 6:3

And, what's a post without a few pics?:)

Riggs and his "elmo toes" from Gigi and Papa

The pics Andrew sent me one day while I was at work...silly boys!

Oh, you know, just standing in the refrigerator.

I love him SO!

Sweet little thing.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  Riggs and I made Valentine cards to send to Gigi and Papa, Sue Sue and Granstan, Uncle Tanner and Aunt Rach and all his cousins:)  He enjoyed "painting" and I had fun putting the cards together.  They all looked a little different, this was just the last one that was left to take a picture of.

Not much happening here for V-day...#1 because I'm working night shift tonight and tomorrow night (the 14th) and #2 we don't have a baby sitter.

To add on to that topic...I LOVE my baby, but this Mama is in SERIOUS need of just a simple date night!  I'm getting desparate.  I'm asking everyone that I even halfway know with kids who they use to babysit!  I'm hesitant to leave him with just anyone, obviously, but I am definetly seeing the importance of getting out with your spouse.  I MISS my husband!  We see each other alot but there is something to be said for not wearing workout clothes and no makeup when your with him:)  So, my goal for the next week or two is to find someone to come over and keep R for a few hours so we can GET OUT!

He knows...

Over the past month or so I have received almost 10 letters in the mail...SNAIL MAIL!  I know that I have verbalized a little through my blog that this time here has been difficult, but I don't think I made it sound like I was in a deep depression or something.

All that to say, I know God knows what we need and I believe He has spoken to and used these people to be such an encouragement to me during this time.  It's such a blessing to see a letter in the mail and wonder who it's from only to open it and see words and scripture of encouragement from friends!  Some I have talked to recently, others I just keep up with through facebook.

So, if you are one of these people THANK YOU!  Thank you for being obedient to that little nudge of the Holy Spirit that someone could use your uplifting word:)  It is a great reminder to me to be more sensitive to those moments in my life!

So, apparently people have been trying to post comments on my blog and they were not going through! I just thought no one ever commented, which is fine because it's really just for me to keep up and have to look back on.  But, it's sad that I have been missing out on comments:(

I think the PROBLEM is SOLVED!

I changed a few settings and got my mom to try it out today and it worked!  So, let the comments roll:)

Almost TWO!

A month from today my baby will be TWO years old! I can't believe it.  I got to thinking about him today and just wanted to post a few things that he has started doing/saying in the past few weeks that I think are so CUTE:)
  •  He says "watch this" and does something silly..but the "this" has a really long 'I' that makes me laugh everytime.
  • "I do it" has become way more frequent.
  • He loves for us to build towers and then he comes and says, "knock it over."
  • Elmo is still his all time fave!  We are adding "Muckey" (mickey) to the list recently.
  • He cannot leave a room without the door being shut behind him...drives me crazy!
  • "Snaaack" is said way TOO would think I'm starving the child.
  • He loves to love on sissy and to do so, unfortunetly, he thinks me shirt need to be pulled up for him to see my belly.  He hugs and kisses sissy and then says "bye bye sissy."
  • Likes to be rocked held while he plays in the rocking chair at night.  He will pick ones of us to "rock you."
  • "I get it"
  • He definetly has his own little language that he still speaks and I'm sure he thinks we know exactly what he's saying:)
I'm sure there are other things that I will think of to add more details before his second birthday but these are just a few that I don't want to forget right now. I love him to pieces!

Philemon 1:4-7
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, 5 because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. 6 I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. 7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.
Sunday the pastor preached on "being the person God wants you to be" and spoke out of the book of Philemon.  One of the points was that as believers it is essential to have people in our lives that will tell us what we NEED to hear, not what we WANT to hear!  He referred to these people as anchors in our lives.  I am thankful that God has provided anchors in almost every stage of our lives  Some people have carried over from one "stage" to the next and I know that is such a blessing. I think on these people and realize how far and few between those types of relationships are and I PRAISE HIM!  I am almost certain that having people such as this is probably a rarity and most likely does not exist for even most believers.

This brings me to a few different thoughts.  The first being that I should count my blessings and praise God for those that he has provided for us!  Even though we may not get to talk often I know they are there for us and will speak TRUTH to me above what I would WANT to hear!

It also reminds me not to give up in this current season of our lives.  Andrew and I have been going to a small group for several months and still have not reallly conected with any of the couples there like we would like to.  We were ready to quite going with the mindset that we (hopefully) don't have much longer here and we will continue to go to church but just not the small group.  That is, until we were convicted of this on Sunday and that we will NOT find those relationships if we don't go to places and communicate with like minded people!

So, I know that if we are only here for another 6 months or so that we won't find BEST friends but we are prayerful that we can find people to be real with and speak truth with openly.  If not, we are thankful for those that God has given us that we can still rely on, no matter how far away.  I also think of my friend Lydia and am thankful for her example. She has taught me that if I want that conversation to occur, oftentimes I have to be the one to bring it up, to ask the ackward important questions to point our conversation to Christ!  I am thankful for that in her!

Siesta Scripture Memory 2

I posted two weeks ago about joining Beth Moore's blog and the siesta scripture memory team.  You memorize a verse every 2 weeks of your choice.  Feel free to join in even if you are a few weeks late!

Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning:
For I trust in You;
Teach me the way in which I should walk;
for to you I lift up my soul.

Psalm 143:8 NASB

I have been repeating my two verses alot the past few weeks as Andrew and I think and talk about the future and where he will apply for jobs.  For the longest time we have said that as much as I desire to be close to home he will only apply to those jobs.  I was really convicted on Sunday about limiting God to only the things that we want!  I need to be willing for Him to teach me the way in which I should walk and to willingly follow after!  I cried prayed to God on  the way to work the night before last after shoveling snow out of the driveway and missing my boys and just allowing lonliness to take over that He would be gracious to us and take us to a place that we can call home! But I am reminded that it's all for him and for HIS glory, not always my happiness, contentment, ect.!
