Gave In

I finally gave in to see what all the talk was about the Hunger Games and read the 1st book this week! Looking forward to seeing the movie now. It's funny because looking back now I wouldn't say that it was a GREAT book, but it does hook you enough to keep you reading!

Up to date

We have been just smooth sailing around here lately...that is until today! I got a call at work that Riggs had a 102 fever and had to go and pick him up around 2 and miss the rest of the day at work. Must be just a virus of some sort b/c ears and all checked out fine! My sweet little buddy is getting three new teeth now though and he never even so much as acts like they hurt him! He just drools and chews and drools and chews:) Here are a few pics of the past week. He is such a ham lately and LOVES to point at things. He will tell you what the dog, cow and lion say! He more so acts it out(with his facial expressions or body movements) than actually makes the noise. He is doing much better when we leave him at nursery or daycare, thankfully! He is such a great, sweet little boy!

Outside

Had a slow, rather boring day at home today but did get out in the yellowness of the day(gotta love the pollen!) for a little bit to play outside!
Sadie, just taking it all in.

He was not so sure about the grass on his toes:)

Weekend Fun

We went to Appling this weekend to see family, but also because we had tickets to see Shane and Shane in concert at the church we grew up in. I can't believe that I didn't take the first picture, but we had a lot of fun. We left Friday when A got done with class. Friday night we went to pizza joint with my bro-in-law and sis-in-law and their 3 kids. Saturday, I spent the morning hanging out at my in-laws house with Riggs. I ran and we played outside with Riggs and then went to lunch with my mom and dad and mom and I shopped for a while.
(I stole these from my mom's fb page...she and my dad kept Riggs for us Sat. night)
Saturday night we went to the concert. Andrew and I thought it was GREAT! They bring back such great memories. We first heard them in college when they were first starting out. Their songs have meant so much to us over the years, including being sung at our wedding. The truth in the words continues to be an encouragement to us and an avenue of worship!
This link is to one of their songs...it isn't my favorite song from their new album but the truth of the gospel shared!

Days like today

I LOVE days like today and for more than one reason! Of course the first is that I LOVE being with my baby boy, but also, I LOVE being outside, I LOVE wearing workout clothes all day, I LOVE being with friends, I LOVE eating lunch out, I LOVE sitting on the couch and browsing facebook and blogs while my sweet boy naps, I LOVE going on runs after this nap time! Such a great day:)

Next Read

Andrew and I had the opportunity to hear John Rosemond, author of Parenting By the Book, on Sunday (thanks mom for keeping Riggs). There are so many things that I took away from this and I look forward to reading the book. The first few things are questions that I want to be intentional about A and I talking through.
  • Are we truly serving the Lord in our home? (Joshua 24:15)
  • What does this look like for us right now?
  • What do we want this to look like as our children grow up?

I am learning that time passes in the blink of an eye and I don't want to look back in 15 years and my children are already teenagers and realize that there were some vital things that I missed teaching them because I was not prepared or did not realize the importance of them at the time. I want to really serve the Lord in our home...I think that this will take constant reevaluation as Riggs grows and as we have more children.

Right now serving Him looks differently than it will in even, say, 2 years. What are we doing now to serve Him? Praying for, visiting and spending time with our neighbors is the biggy for us now. What an opportunity we have been given. I could go on and on about what I learned, but those ?'s are on my mind and heart and I think when A comes home tonight we may just have a sit down talk:)

Riggs is a YEAR old!

It has come and gone...Riggs 1st Birthday! Such a cliche to continue to say that time has FLOWN but it is the truth. I am so thankful to God for his life and that we have had the privelege to love him for a year already!
What you are up to:
  • You looked great at your 12 month check up. You are 20lbs 9 0z (38%) and 31 inches long (89%)
  • You are not walking yet but you love to hold our hands and take off.
  • You are in size 12-18 months clothing and size 3 diapers.
  • You are doing a little bit better with table food but are still really particular about texture. Some new things that you like are grapes and strawberries. You let us know quickly when you don't like something and spit it out!
  • You are a great sleeper! The minute you see your lovie at night your thumb goes straight in your mouth...I hope this isn't a problem one day.
  • You like to point at things.
  • Your first word, althought not pronunciated clearly is DOG. You point and say "da" and follow Sadie around the house.
  • You are cutting your 6th tooth right now.

The bottles are gone and you are doing fairly well with milk and sippy cups. You definetly do not love it yet and are drinking only because we offer it to you ALOT...hoping it gets better quickly!
