Divine Appointment, Coincidence...

Call it what you will, but I think God used my last day at work to really challenge me. I pulled out of my neighborhood Thursday morning to go to work and had to go back roads because my normal route was blocked by ambulance and tons of police cars. I quickly said a prayer that God would protect whoever was in the accident and their family(I'll get back to this in a second).
I got to work and had a busy day with two patients and always expect to come back the next day to have the same ones...it always seems to be a little easier the second day. Well, Thursday afternoon the charge nurse asked if I wanted to take care of a different patient the next day. I questioned it at first and then said sure, because a busier day always goes by faster(this is the part that was no coincidence).
I came in Friday to my new assignment to find out that this patient was the reason that I could not get to work on Thursday morning. Come to find out he has a normal routine of running very early every morning and was hit by a car. I can't say much more due to privacy issues but I think this was the most difficult day I have ever had at work. I watched and prayed as his wife cried out loud to God in the hospital room to give her strength, as they sang "I will praise you in the storm"(casting crowns) while we were doing certain tests, as his 2 young children came to see him, while many many people came to visit and recall how he had encouraged them and touched their lives. I talked with his wife and tried to speak words of encouragement to her. I see sad situations more than I would like in the area I work and a lot of them do not know Jesus, therefore do not know HOPE! I told her that she had been prayed for on Thursday morning on my way to work without me even knowing that I would be the one to take care of her husband and family that day. This was NO coincidence!
All this to say, I have been challenged! We are NOT promised tomorrow. What legacy am I leaving on this earth? When I am gone will people speak of my joy and love for the Lord? I want to be remembered as a woman of character and an example for those around me...What am I doing to make this happen?!

Poor Tweedle

As I wrote the title to this post I had several thoughts passing through my mind. The first one is that my poor baby boy is sick, for real, for the first time. He has had a little cold maybe twice witha fever but only lasted like 2 days. We took him to the doctor yesterday and he has his first ear infection and bad cold. He is now on antibiotics, breathing treatments, and we are alternating tylenol and motrin to keep his fever down:( I know this won't be the first or the last time but I hate seeing my baby sick. The only positive is extra love and cuddling from him!
He is so good natured he hasn't cried very much being sick, he just wants to be held and he will almost wimper when he feels bad. Love him so much!
The second thing that crossed my mind was wanting to document all the names we have for sweet boy. It seems that he gets a new nick name every couple of weeks and then we move on to something else. I will try to start with the ones we called him as a baby and then up until now.
-burrito bambino
-burrito (I called him both of these when we swaddled him b/c he looked like a little baby burrito..oh how I miss that!)
-bubby
-Riggsy
-Riggsy pigsy
-Pigsy Pop
-tater
-tweedle
-tweedle donk
-sweet boy
-bubba
Off to put my little tweedle down for a nap and enjoy a lazy, snuggly Sunday!

Can't Believe It...

I CANNOT believe that I am already planning a FIRST Birthday party! Time has gone by so fast. It's so hard to believe that this time last year I was 81/2 months pregnant and looked like this...
And now I have an almost 11 month old that isn't so much a baby anymore!
Here are a few of my inspirations and things I have already planned for his Giraffe 1st Birthday party! All coming from his love from this little lady named Sophie:)
Excited to celebrate Riggs' little life! We have so much to be thankful for!

Riggs is 11 months!

  • You are learning body parts...you know nose and mouth! So cute.
  • You still will not clap, I don't know why but when we say patty cake you will clap our hands together.
  • You are in size 3 diapers and 12 month clothes.
  • You still take two 2 hr naps and sleep about 10-11 hrs at night.
  • You are cruising everywhere!
  • You can't sleep without your lovie blanket..the minute you see it you grab it and put your thumb in your mouth.
  • You love bath time.
  • You almost kill us in the walker going as fast as you possibly can running through the house!
  • You WILL NOT eat any food with texture besides puffs, cheerios and goldfish. You won't eat hardly any table foods and I don't know what else to do other than continue trying until you get used to it.
  • You love Sadie and will say "ddd..ddd" as we try to teach you "dog"!
  • Yo Gabba Gabba is your favorite show.
  • You still have 5 little teeth, two on top and three on the bottom with no signs of any more soon.

You are turning into a little boy more and more everyday! I can't believe almost a year has past. This time last year we were so anxious to meet you:)

What's goin' on

ALOT! I feel like there has been so much going on but all of it is at a standstill if that makes any sense. Andrew wrecked my car almost three weeks ago at his interview in Missouri and it has yet to go to the shop. So I am driving around like a red neck with only half a bumper! Insurance companies blah blah blah!
Next up, took Riggs to the urologist today because his circumcision site has grown together in one spot and found out he has to go to Children's Hospital to have it done in the OR...in other words, surgery! I am so aggrevated by this because the one time we saw a different Dr. and I asked her about it she said that it would seperate on its own. Well, I thought this a little strange but listented to the doctor. Only to find out at his 9 month appointment that she was wrong! Waiting to find out when he will have surgery. Poor baby!
Finally, Andrew leaves tomorrow for his last two interviews. He interviews Thursday in Milwaukee, WI and then Friday in Terre Haute, Indiana! Praying for his safety, clarity of mind and ability to answer questions thoroughly and easily at both interviews. But most of all praying for God's guidance and that He would open and close doors and lead us to where He wants us to be. Praying this verse, along with others I will share later.
Psalm 143:10 "Teach me to DO your will, for you are my God; May for good Spirit LEAD me on level ground."
Waiting in many circumstances right now but thankful for God's FAITHFULNESS in all areas of our lives!

Riggs is 10 Months!

Riggs, here we go again buddy! Time is flying by TOO QUICKLY! Just the other day someone mentioned that Christmas would be one of you last FIRSTS:( Makes me kinda sad to think about, but so thankful that we have gotten to experience all these things with you.
What you are up ...
  • You have three new teeth in a month! Your bottom left tooth (the one to the side of the middle two..don't know what it's called), and now your second top tooth just cut through!
  • You are cruising around the tables and will push your stand up toys around the house.
  • You are in 9-12 month clothes. 9 months fit your size but they are all too short in the stride..you are a tall boy.
  • We finally moved you up to size 3 diapers, but they are a little big!
  • You are wanting more table food and will watch us eat and hoot and holler for some of it!
  • You love cheerios, goldfish and puffs more than anything healthy for you.
  • We just cut out your bottle after your afternoon nap so you will take your whole bottle at night before bed and the last two nights you have slept until 7 am!
  • You love bath time and want to crawl all over the tub.
  • You scream bloody murder now when we drop you off at daycare or the church nursery:( I hate it!

We can't believe you are so close to be a year old and that I am already planning a first birthday party!

Christmas Recap #1

Because I had to work Christmas day, my family came up on Friday and we woke up Christmas Eve morning and did Christmas with them. We had a fun time with them opening gifts, then went to the gun range to use some new toys and came back for a lunch of shrimp and grits.
